I am so excited to share with you that I am officially engaged to the man of my dreams, a day long awaited for! A little history, Mark and I met on New Years 2007, we sat and talked mostly about life and all things music that night. Over time Mark became a guy I considered a friend, I never dared let my thoughts think of him more than that because he was younger than me (and who would date a younger guy???)
Mark and I could be in a room full of our closest friends and magnetically we would end of next to each other chatting away. But it wasn't until I got a puppy that we started spending more time together. My boxer pup Jax became his excuse for seeing me, we would walk the dog at the park and Mark would even puppy sit while I would shoot weddings! I thought Mark sincerely liked my dog, not me!
So after dating for over a year, one special Monday, June 22 happened!
Monday was like any normal day, I had a session that morning and spent the rest of the day working, packing, cleaning etc. (working really hard because Tuesday we would be flying out to Colorado). I was chatting on the phone with a close friend and thought I heard the UPS man and so I ran to the door, opened it to find: 2 letters (one sealed), sunflowers, and a twenty dollar bill. Giddy with excitement I read the letter aloud to my friend. I was to take the rest of the day off work and be ready to leave by seven, I was to go to the place we had our first date and buy two desserts to go and then open the second letter.
I knew what this meant, I had no doubt in my mind this was the night that Mark would propose!
When I left my home I practically had a smile glued to my face. I got the dessert and was ready to open the second letter only to find I was to drive back home for dinner and entertainment. You see, Mark is musician (not just a guy that plays the guitar but a genuine musician!) I arrived at my place to find nearly a hundred candles lit, a sushi dinner (the marry me roll from piranha) and what seemed to be a coffee house stage, microphone and all, not to mention the grinning guy standing in the middle of the room!!!
Mark had picked out some of my favorite songs by artists like: Ray Lamontagne, The Temptations, Copeland, Death Cab for Cutie, and I was his audience. (He even played Dave Barnes version of My Body is like Disneyland, just to get a laugh at out of me)
He probably spent thirty minutes singing and playing in his coffee house atmosphere breaking every few minutes for some sushi, he has such a witty sense of humor and would continue to treat me like a large crowd audience (I think he just wanted some encores). I enjoyed every second. Then he just got down on his knee and asked.....we hugged and cried, I screamed, "of course" then asked to see the beautiful ring in his hand!!!
Then he played me the sweet song he had written in sonnet form for me. It was absolutely perfect!

We are currently out of town vacationing and spending time with family, office hours will resume on Tuesday of next week!
