Marry Me: Ashley+Jimmy

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

You might remember Ashley from her sweet bridal session not to long ago! Ashley and Jimmy had a beautiful event and so many details were hand picked and put together by her and her sisters! They all worked really hard to make her wedding a dream day for her and I believe it was a success. So congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. Gunn!!!

I am totally obsessed with this series of kisses, they are too sweet!

Our sweet story!

Friday, June 26, 2009

I am so excited to share with you that I am officially engaged to the man of my dreams, a day long awaited for! A little history, Mark and I met on New Years 2007, we sat and talked mostly about life and all things music that night. Over time Mark became a guy I considered a friend, I never dared let my thoughts think of him more than that because he was younger than me (and who would date a younger guy???)

Mark and I could be in a room full of our closest friends and magnetically we would end of next to each other chatting away. But it wasn't until I got a puppy that we started spending more time together. My boxer pup Jax became his excuse for seeing me, we would walk the dog at the park and Mark would even puppy sit while I would shoot weddings! I thought Mark sincerely liked my dog, not me!

So after dating for over a year, one special Monday, June 22 happened!

Monday was like any normal day, I had a session that morning and spent the rest of the day working, packing, cleaning etc. (working really hard because Tuesday we would be flying out to Colorado). I was chatting on the phone with a close friend and thought I heard the UPS man and so I ran to the door, opened it to find: 2 letters (one sealed), sunflowers, and a twenty dollar bill. Giddy with excitement I read the letter aloud to my friend. I was to take the rest of the day off work and be ready to leave by seven, I was to go to the place we had our first date and buy two desserts to go and then open the second letter.

I knew what this meant, I had no doubt in my mind this was the night that Mark would propose!

When I left my home I practically had a smile glued to my face. I got the dessert and was ready to open the second letter only to find I was to drive back home for dinner and entertainment. You see, Mark is musician (not just a guy that plays the guitar but a genuine musician!) I arrived at my place to find nearly a hundred candles lit, a sushi dinner (the marry me roll from piranha) and what seemed to be a coffee house stage, microphone and all, not to mention the grinning guy standing in the middle of the room!!!

Mark had picked out some of my favorite songs by artists like: Ray Lamontagne, The Temptations, Copeland, Death Cab for Cutie, and I was his audience. (He even played Dave Barnes version of My Body is like Disneyland, just to get a laugh at out of me)

He probably spent thirty minutes singing and playing in his coffee house atmosphere breaking every few minutes for some sushi, he has such a witty sense of humor and would continue to treat me like a large crowd audience (I think he just wanted some encores). I enjoyed every second. Then he just got down on his knee and asked.....we hugged and cried, I screamed, "of course" then asked to see the beautiful ring in his hand!!!

Then he played me the sweet song he had written in sonnet form for me. It was absolutely perfect!

We are currently out of town vacationing and spending time with family, office hours will resume on Tuesday of next week!

Marry Me: Sarah+Colin

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Do you remember these love birds from their Kiss Me session? Well May 23, they got hitched down in Houston and I was honored to celebrate their big day as their photographer. Sarah wanted to see Colin before the celebration but he liked the idea of the tradition, so they made a slight compromise;)

I was downloading today's shoot and came across this...I love it!

Put Something In

Put Something In:

"Draw a crazy picture,
Write a nutty poem,
Sing a mumble-gumble song,
Whistle through your comb,
Do a loony goony dance,
'Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain't been there before"

Shel Silverstein

I took this image at my wedding on last friday, I think it absolutely captures the age of this four year old little girl, trying on her mother's shoes.

Sometimes......

Kiss Me: Christina+Tim

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Meet Christina and her man Tim, I met her a few years ago and instantly liked her. The first night we met we were celebrating a mutual friend's birthday and ended up sitting together with endless chatter. Before long I knew we were going to be friends, we started sharing about how we had both recently conquered our first marathon and how we both played college sports, and had huge goals for our lives. Not to mention we had the same competitive edge which we discovered over a game of cranium. She is definitely a girl full of more life and contagious energy than anyone I have ever met, its so inspiring. She was finishing up law school when we first met and after graduating and passing the bar she moved to Dallas where she re-kindled a friendship from her UT days with Tim and the rest is history. Just from the short time I spent with Tim I knew he was so perfect for her, congrats guys I can't wait until your sweet day.

They brought a long a friend, little Lexi!
